The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2024 for admission to the 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) offered by selected Central/State Universities, Institutions including IITs, NITs, RIEs, and Government Colleges.

NTA NCET 2024 is a unified entrance exam for future teachers, in line with the National Education Policy 2020, which aims to improve teacher education in India. The ITEP is a unique bachelor’s degree program that combines a degree in Education with a specialized subject like a language, history, or mathematics. Eligibility

Education Required

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12/equivalent examination or be appearing for it in 2024.
  • The qualifying exam should be from a recognized Board/University.
  • There are no specific subject restrictions, allowing students from all streams (Science, Arts, Commerce) to apply.

Age Range

  • Minimum Age: 17 years as of December 31, 2024
  • Maximum Age: No upper age limit

Experience

  • No prior teaching experience is required for NTA NCET 2024.

How to Apply

Step-by-step application guide

  1. Visit the official NCET website.
  2. Click on the “New Registration” button.
  3. Fill in basic details like name, email, mobile number, and create a password.
  4. Log in using the generated Application Number and password.
  5. Complete the application form with personal, educational, and contact details.
  6. Upload scanned documents as per specifications.
  7. Pay the application fee online.
  8. Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.

Payment can be made through Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

  • Scanned passport size photograph (10 KB to 200 KB)
  • Scanned signature (4 KB to 30 KB)
  • Class 10 marksheet

Exam Pattern

The NTA NCET 2024 exam will have the following sections:

  • Language 1 (23 questions)
  • Language 2 (23 questions)
  • Teaching Aptitude (23 questions)
  • General Test (28 questions)
  • Domain Specific Subject 1 (28 questions)
  • Domain Specific Subject 2 (28 questions)
  • Domain Specific Subject 3 (28 questions)

Important Notes:

  • Candidates must choose two different languages from a list of 38 options for Language 1 and 2.
  • For Domain Specific subjects, candidates must select three different subjects from 26 available options.
  • Teaching Aptitude and General Test sections are compulsory for all candidates.

The following types of institutions will accept NCET 2024 scores for admission to their 4-Year ITEP programs:
