Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • Candidates who are subjects of Nepal, Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit

The age limit for SSC CGL 2024 varies by post. The general age range is 18 to 32 years as of January 1, 2024.

Specific Age Limits for Different Posts:

  • 18-27 years: Auditor, Accountant, Junior Accountant, Senior Secretariat Assistant, Upper Division Clerks, Tax Assistant, Sub-Inspector (Group C).

  • Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at the 12th standard level or a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level.
  • Compiler: Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as a compulsory or elective subject.

Application Process

Syllabus

Tier 1:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, etc.
  • General Awareness: Current events, India and its neighboring countries, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general policy, scientific research, etc.
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Number systems, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationship between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, ratio and time, time and work, etc.
  • English Comprehension: Understanding of the English language, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, and its correct usage, etc.

Tier 2:

  • Quantitative Abilities: Same as Tier 1 but of higher difficulty level.
  • English Language and Comprehension: Same as Tier 1 but of higher difficulty level.
  • Statistics: Collection, classification, and presentation of statistical data, measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, moments, skewness and kurtosis, correlation and regression, probability theory, random variable and probability distributions, sampling theory, statistical inference, analysis of variance, time series analysis, index numbers, etc.
  • General Studies (Finance and Economics): Fundamental principles and basic concept of accounting, financial accounting, basic concepts of economics and introduction to microeconomics, theory of demand and supply, theory of production and cost, forms of market and price determination in different markets, Indian economy, economic reforms since 1991, money and banking, role of information technology in governance, etc.
